I love bookstores. I can get lost in them for hours. After all, there are few things quite as romantic. Enter Traveler's Bookcase in West Hollywood.

This recent discovery spoke to my heart on various levels -- the traveler, the reader, the treasure hunter willing to scour myriad stacks to uncover paperback gems. And there it was...

Zoom in on the right. See that colorful tome there? I was jumping up and down upon spotting it. A Little Book of Aloha is one in a series of books written by my Australian journo friend Renata Provenzano.

We've traveled to many countries together, but, fittingly, met at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows on Hawai‘i Island.
Whilst sitting on the lawn of the Eva Parker Wood's cottage (pictured above) reveling Twilight at Kalahuipua'a (a monthly performance series not to be missed), the story behind Renata's love of Hawai‘i, and subsequent books, unfolded.

Beyond the Little Book of Aloha Hawaiian Proverbs and Inspiration, the Provenzano-penned books pictured above are part of my home library.
Though I haven't seen Renata in a while, I do bump into her books quite often. They make me miss my friend, but bring on a smile every time.
As for Renata, you'll be getting an introduction to her tomorrow via a Your Stories post. You'll definitely want to check out this very personal tale about unplanned travel.

In the meantime, here's an update about Traveler's Bookcase http://www.travelersbookcase.com. Come April, it will be reborn as a travel bookstore with a "bit more" in terms of items to pack for around-the-globe treks. You'll definitely want to check it out before boarding your next plane.
And, if you want to experience Twilight at Kalahuipua'a (highly recommended) visit http://www.maunalani.com/events/twilight-at-kalahuipuaa. Include in your web surfing a visit to Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows http://www.maunalani.com. You'll want to meet the honu aka Hawaiian green sea turtles, and definitely book a spa treatment at the Mauna Lani Spa.
There's more to check out on Hawai‘i Island, too -- hello! Volcanoes, petroglyphs, paniolo (aka cowboy) culture... Visit http://www.gohawaii.com/en/big-island/ for more info.
