Family is one of the best gifts God could ever give to someone. That’s why we cherish the moments we spend with our families the most. The most exciting vacation is the first one someone attends with their family. Every family has that special place where they can unite and have a good time, or they just go on a small vacation, or a road trip. It could be out of town, to the beach, to the lake, to a park, or anywhere that a family can be together and have a good time.
My first family vacation was in 2013. My dad came home from work one day and said “Pack your bags we leave to Myrtle Beach on Monday.” I was happier than a baby with candy. It was so exciting planning for the trip: packing up my bags, buying snacks, drinks, and figuring out materials needed for the trip. I had never gone on a family trip, so everything I did to prepare for this trip was very exciting.

The only thing I actually didn’t like about the road trip was sitting in the car for about three hours and thirty minutes. I fell asleep a couple of times. We did stop a few times, which was for gas, food, and to use the restroom. Helping me get through this was the idea of me swimming in the ocean...
We stopped at McDonald’s and Waffle House since they were right beside each other. I ate from both places since I hadn’t eaten the whole day.

As soon as I got into the hotel I changed into my swimming shorts and went to the beach. I had never ever seen the beach in real life so it was amazing. The best part about it was the waves hitting me. It was so fun when they would hit me because they would almost knock me over.

My mom collected sea shells to take home so we wouldn’t forget our visit to the beach. I still remember she caught a huge shell bigger than my fist.

Then, when the sun was setting, my family and I left the hotel and went to eat at downtown Myrtle Beach. After we finished eating, we walked around downtown to buy anything that said Myrtle Beach (once again to remember our family vacation). Soon, after walking around, we decided to go get some rest at the hotel.

Right before I fell asleep I went outside to look at the ocean. My dad had gotten an ocean front room so I could see the beach whenever I wanted. Watching the beach at night is the most relaxing thing someone could ever do. Finally, I got tired and decided to get some rest.

The next two days was exactly the same routine. We would wake up, go eat and come back to the hotel to relax. We would go to the beach, then to the pool, and finally back to the beach. My last day there was the best (and worst)!
First of all, I was stung by a jellyfish (worst).

Second of all, I ate a shrimp quesadilla (which I had never eaten before, but now I eat it on a daily basis…BEST).

In the end, I learned a couple of things. First, to appreciate family because they will always be there for you, even when you fail. Second, don’t go too deep into the ocean in the mornings because that's when the jellyfish are out. And, finally, that there is a meal called shrimp quesadilla in certain Mexican restaurants…and it’s my favorite!
